This is a special little post to introduce you all to a new Bree. She's just the same as the old Bree.. Only she's wearing the hijab, because she is a muslim and she has decided she's gotten to a point in life where it's time to look like a muslim. How weird is it that I'm talking in the third person..

A head scarf is the most minimalist form of hijab and there are some who think it is voluntary or just something people choose to do but its actually compulsary to wear a hijab as a muslim woman/girl, although wearing it should be for the right reasons and everyone knows the right time for themseves in shaa Allah. Hijab denotes modesty and guarding one's beauty. The hijab is mentioned in Surah An-Nur (The Light)

(24:30) Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and to be mindful of their chastity: this will be most conducive to their purity – [and,] verily, God is aware of all that they do.
(24:31) And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and to be mindful of their chastity, and not to display their charms [in public] beyond what may [decently] be apparent thereof hence, let them draw their head-coverings over their bosoms. And let them not display [more of] their charms to any but their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands’ fathers, or their sons, or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their womenfolk, or those whom they rightfully possess, or such male attendants as are beyond all sexual desire, or children that are as yet unaware of women’s nakedness; and let them not swing their legs [in walking] so as to draw attention to their hidden charms.

Hijab to me is about modesty and respect. You never see a hijabi getting perved on (I haven't anyway). I feel like people look at you a certain way but most of all, I feel like its a constant reminder of what and who I am. I've also found that I am smiled at a lot more, maybe people find me less threatening because I'm no longer competing with every other girl walking down the street (not that I ever was!) The more I read the Qu'ran the more I want to be a better muslim and in my head the beginning of being a better muslim is looking like one. This isnt going to turn into a 'Hijab Story', I don't want to bore anyone, I just wanted to let all you lovely honeys know what was going on in my life right now

PS: I dont know what I'm going to do with my previous posts where you can see my hair and stuff, so for now I'm going to leave them where they are.
